Clear Lake Invasive Species Awareness Project

Description

The Clear Lake Property Owners completed the following projects: 1. Information Board Kiosks Two wooden Kiosks were constructed and installed at the two public accesses serving Clear Lake. Improvement to an existing Kiosk at Little Mud Lake (which is across the road from Clear Lake) was completed with the installation of new shatter resistant Plexiglas. Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers awareness content was placed on all signs. The Kiosk at the north end of Clear Lake is believed to be innovative in that it has displays on both sides, allowing for messages for those putting boats in and those taking them out. The two Kiosks were constructed in accordance with “Information Board #2” specifications provided by MN DNR. Sign content will be updated through the coming year. 2. A website, ClearLakeWatkins.org, was created and is operative, with the home page devoted to the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers awareness information. 3. A special edition member newsletter, devoted primarily to the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers awareness project was distributed to all property owners, to community organizations and to area government entities. 4. Two member meetings were held, one in April and one in August, at which the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers project was discussed in detail. Volunteers were recruited to aid in the project by helping to inform neighbors about the project.
