Woodbury Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) Assessmen

Description

Urban Tree Canopy Mapping - Woodbury strives to be a sustainable community that promotes community health and wellness through the protection of the environment. One of the goals identified as part of the Natural Resources/Environmental Protection chapter of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan was an increase in tree canopy cover throughout the City. Completion of the UTC assessment was critical to successful implementation of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan goal. The most important finding of the UTC assessment was that Woodbury's current tree canopy is approximately 22% and that there is a significant range in the canopy among neighborhoods. Neighborhoods, depending on age and development practices at the time of development, are anywhere between 10% and 50% canopy cover. The 70% of the City that is developed to its ultimate condition has a canopy of 23%. The UTC assessment will be used to meet the City goal of an increased urban tree canopy cover.
