2010 PF - HE Grassland Projects


Grant funds will be used to conduct grassland management activities on DNR Area Staff approved WMA sites. Activities and expenditures will include site preparation, tree removal, seed, seeding, herbicide application, clipping, burning, and any other activity necessary to create productive grassland sites on WMA’s across the state of Minnesota. All sites will be approved by the DNR Area Manager and contractors will be required to consult with DNR area staff to discuss goals, restoration/enhancement plans, and management objectives.

Assessment Funds remain due to hand cutting of thistle, donated chemical (reduced expenditure), and over-estimating seed cost. This, plus weather and changes in projects resulted in fewer acres accomplished than planned.
