Aitkin County Wildlife Openings

Description

This project will enhance previously maintained wildlife openings. These openings have brush and trees quickly taking them over and will soon be lost if they are not maintained by periodic mowing. Seventy-three sites have been chosen based on land ownership and overall need. The openings selected desperately need a maintenance mow. The openings will be mowed by a 90 hp or greater, tracked low ground pressure machine. All small trees and brush are to be mowed at a height no greater than 8 inches from the ground to promote the growth of grasses and forbs and set back the growth of woody species.
