Chisago WMA Enhancements

Description

Janet Johnson Memorial and Wild Rose WMAs in Chisago County have a mixture of woods, wetlands, and prairie. Restored prairie was established in 2010, and prescribed burning is an important maintenance tool. The objectives of the proposed prescribed burns are to reduce fine fuel loading, along with setting back cool season grasses and increasing native plant density/diversity. It also sets back woody vegetation and improves nesting habitat for ground nesting game and nongame species.
