Reeves Mixed Planting

Description

Desired future stand condition is mixed wood stand with oak, yellow birch, white spruce and white pine. The plan is to plant 8' by 8' spacing without site prep. Planting quantities are 4500 spruce, 1500 pine, 1000 red oak, 500 bur oak, and 500 yellow birch. This stand is located in a heavy deer zone so protection will be needed for 5 growing seasons. The species mix will provide mast, habitat and thermal cover for multiple wildlife species. Brush saw release in the third season will promote growth of planted trees while also creating browse for wildlife.
