Indian Heights Park - Zumbro River Urban Corridor

Description

This Indian Heights-Zumbro River Urban corridor project consists of restoring native flora and fauna communities on undeveloped oak forest, maple-basswood woodland, and savanna ecosystems. Invasive plant eradication will focus on non-native species such as buckthorn, honeysuckle, garlic mustard, reed canary grass and tree species that are non-typical in the respective natural environments. Invasive species will be cut and chemically treated. As the native environments regenerate prescribed burns and grazing will be scheduled. Native local seeds will be collected and distributed to hasten habitat improvement and preserve local genotypes.
