MN Valley NWR - St. Lawrence Unit Restoration
The proposed project will restore historic habitat for 60 acres of previously farmed agricultural land in Scott County that was recently acquired as an addition to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. The proposed activities are to restore alluvial plain and slope wetland habitat by preparing the soil bed for seeding, purchasing native local eco-type seed, broadcasting native seed, and release mowing seeded areas. The project will establish native wetland (hydrophytic) plant species, provide habitat for migratory and local birds, native pollinators, and wildlife, and increase the nesting success of migratory and resident birds.
