Chub Lake WMA Enhancement Phase 1

Chub Lake WMA was protected to preserve and enhance the high quality oak woodland and a portion of the unspoiled shoreline along Chub Lake. Presently, 87-acres of Chub Lake WMA (or roughly 43%) predominantly consist of common buckthorn, thereby threatening the original purpose of this WMA. Buckthorn will be removed using a chainsaw or brush saw and all stumps would be treated with herbicide. In areas with low densities, trees will be bucked up and left to lie on the forest floor. In denser infestation areas trees will be piled and stacked so they can be burned.
