River Bluffs Restoration

Description

Proposal to fully restore 12 acres of prairie remnant at River Bluffs Park. Prairie and grasslands in this regional park are becoming overtaken by non-native plant and tree type communities. Methods include tree removal (cut/pile/burn and shearing), herbicide stump treatment, mowing, and prescribed burns on a rotation schedule. The expected results and benefits include: decreased wildland fragmentation and soil erosion, increased opportunity for listed or endangered species to thrive, contribution to cleaner surface/subsurface water, and increased biodiversity.
