Martin County WMA Grassland Improvement #1

Description

Certain grassland areas on existing WMAs have never been converted to native prairie habitat. These areas represent varying percentages of the areas mapped for this project. Grassland conversions will be started and/or continued on 5 WMA's in Martin County: Center Creek WMA, Swag WMA, Krahmer WMA, Perch Creek WMA and Rooney Run WMA. this project will include the collection of seed from Minnesota Crop Improvement Association - Certified prairie remnants to provide local source plant materials to install plantings on the Perch and Center Creek WMAs where initial non-native species removal has begun. This project will add plant and habitat diversity to areas where site preparation has been started. New sites have been selected for initial non-native species removal on all five mapped WMA sites.
